Fox Broadcasting Company is part of News Corporation, one of the biggest news broadcasting corporations in the United States. Collectively, they own Fox Sports, which is an extremely popular news broadcasting channel. In 1994, Fox got the rights to broadcast all National Football League games, which in turn, resulted in the formation of Fox Sports. This was set to be an extremely successful venture over the next few years, despite a range of positive and negative factors affecting their core business.

Fox Sports has had a lot of success over the years, covering some of the most sought after events in the world. The likes of the National Hockey League was televised by them 1994-1999, whilst the Major League Baseball was first aired in 1996 and continues to be to this day, as does NASCAR. That is not all, the Bowl Championship Series has also been popular with viewers and its three year stint ended within the last few months.

Over the years, the sports broadcasted by the corporation have changed a great deal. Nowadays they own exclusive rights to broadcast the likes of the Daytona 500. This is one of the most popular sporting events of the year, so offers them a chance to give viewers something that no other channel can. The first contract with NASCAR was an awkward one, where the broadcasts alternated between NBC Sports and Fox Sports.

The last few years has seen them air sports that can not be seen else where. Four exclusive Formula One races are broadcasted each year, which certainly draws in the crowds. This includes the likes of the United States Grand Prix and Canadian Grand Prix, both of which are popular with viewers. Other events include the likes of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and even the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The contracts developed by Fox Sports have enabled to place themselves competitively in the broadcasting market, much like Fox News and similar channels. Take the World Series for instance; this is a contract that has run since 2000. The good news is that Fox Sports are in a long term contract which will see them run the World Series right through until 2013.
