MSNBC, II

In the past, MSNBC broadcasts have been criticized slightly. Many have suggested that it is one of the best channels around, where as other suggest that the news reports are extremely biased. Some have suggested that its prime time viewing is among the worse for bias. That being said MSNBC have suggested that they aim to inform rather than persuade the people of the United States with their broad casts.

The creation of MSNBC is the brain child of the NBC executive at the time, Tom Rogers. Thanks to his years of experience, he was able to forge a partnership of comfort between the two companies in question, and managed to get an investment of $220 million from Microsoft, which in return would give Microsoft a 50% share in the company. Alongside this, MSNBC and Microsoft would split the cost of the premises used for a newsroom in Secaucus, New Jersey.

The launch date for MSNBC was set, July 15, 1996. Jodi Applegate was the anchor who was to debut for the channel and had a great broadcast lined up for all people viewing. The broadcast included the likes of news, interviews, and opinions. To keep the show rolling and keep viewers entertained, they decided introduce a show called The Contributors. This was a success thanks two the featured people, Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham.

To begin with, MSNBC went with if it is not broke then do not fix it attitude. This was because they found that the likes of CNN, with their short broadcasts were doing exceptionally well. NBC network affiliates were working hard to do their bit and subsequently, NBC aired many stories that could be found at their affiliates and even used some of their breaking news broadcasts where possible.
